Administrating for arts organisations and arts projects can sometimes be like trying to nail jelly to a tree. There are so many elements to contend with and one persons creative process can be wholly different from anothers.

Red Lantern implements and maintains administration systems that could be used by someone at any level of the organisation or at any point of a project, keeping processes accessible and accurate.

For Grand Union, a new artist studios provider and gallery space in Digbeth Birmingham formed in 2009, Red Lantern worked with the Directors during 2010 to set up the book keeping and finance system for the organisation as well as pulling together the legal documents and requirements for the premises, managing volunteers and apprentices, setting up the Board committee, as well as supporting the launch of various exhibitions and an initiative involving the purchase of a set of limited editions artworks an additional income stream for the organisation.

Red Lantern includes evaluation methodologies and detailed data collection in all projects and we have also worked on specific evaluation reports and evaluative work for other projects and clients. Our most notable evaluation project has been for the Arts & Business managed Art of Ideas 2010 programme evaluation.

“Red Lantern was commissioned to lead the evaluation of Art of Ideas 3, the Arts Council England West Midlands initiative, managed and delivered by Arts & Business in 2010.
The project’s key aim is to promote contemporary visual art in the region and make it accessible to audiences and new potential buyers through a series of events.
Red Lantern provided a thorough and in depth evaluation based upon data collection, online surveys and interviews with audience members and stakeholders. Lauren provided excellent value for money and delivered the evaluation objectives within the budget and deadline.
Both the lead agency Arts & Business and the client Arts Council England were impressed with the methodology and resulting report. Lauren is very pleasant and efficient to work with, has a full understanding of organisational and project objectives and delivered a very impressive service.”
